During times of emotional upheaval, it is tempting to believe our fears are real. We unknowingly magnify them by lashing out against ourselves and others. Darrell and Ed have found the surest way out of difficulty is to affirm we are already blessed in ways beyond our current understanding. Samuel Patrick Smith joins this episode to read and discuss today's Daily Word®, "Free." Click here to download/listen.
The 3 Breaths
"To hell with Paul Revere, there's nothing to fear!"
"To hell with Paul Revere, there's nothing to fear!"
The power of your imagination is tremendous. You have watched yourself use it to magnify negatives. Now use it to expand your consciousness of well-being... For a moment, forget yourself as you believe yourself to be. You are now seeing yourself as the Infinite knows you to be. Such a picture, held in your mind for several moments, has great therapeutic power. –Raymond Charles Barker, The Power of Decision, Pg 142
Change- or even a transition period- is always difficult for man because he feels a loss of security due to knowledge of the "old" or past and lack of knowledge of the "new" or future. But when man starts "feeding his mind" with things of the Spirit (love, high ideals, patience, understanding) he suddenly emerges from his days of darkness during the change and becomes aware of the great light which is found in understanding and reuniting with the great, victorious Spirit. –Jack H. Holland, Man's Victorious Spirit, Pg 87
Let’s get this clear. You are in your true nature, a divine being and you are one with God –now. You cannot know anything or experience anything except your own states of mind; and these you can change by intelligent & persistent effort. Any deed or any happening is but the shadow cast by a thought. The secret of happiness & harmony is peace of mind – and there is no other. You find peace & harmony by getting right with God. The peace of God flows through me now! –Emmet Fox, Make Your Life Worthwhile
The effect of a smile on other people is remarkable. It disarms suspicion, melts away fear and anger, and brings forth the best in the other person--which best he immediately proceeds to give to you. –Emmet Fox
The problem could not exist if you did not exist to create it and experience it. Shift your attention from your concern with the problem, and give this same amount of thinking and feeling to your awareness of yourself as Intelligence in action. Then a right idea will happen in your thinking, and you will triumph over the enemies of your own preconceived wrong ideas. You are a new cause bringing forth a new effect. The new effect is one you like and one which benefits you, for it was born in Intelligence and was nurtured by your own intelligent planning. ~Raymond Charles Barker, from The Power of Decision

Love overcomes both hate and fear. However, love does not overcome hate and fear through controversy, argument, or force, but by a subtle power of transformation, transmutation, and sublimation. It is invisible in its essence but apparent through its act. As light overcomes the darkness, as the presence of heat causes the coolness of a room to change until it is warm and comfortable, so the radiant action of love and peace dissipates fear, hate, and confusion.
Love is the victor in every case. Love breaks down the iron bars of thought, shatters the walls of material belief, severs the chain of bondage which thought has imposed, and sets the captive free. –Ernest Holmes, Effective Prayer, Pg. 51.3

In the same way laws and textbooks change with the times, I update my understanding of spiritual freedom. I am free to make different choices and re-create myself.
With prayer and meditation as my primary tools, I release worn-out ways of being and acting in the world. I choose to see people and situations differently. I free myself from faulty thinking and embrace productive thoughts. I affirm the fresh choices that are possible and my responsibility toward others in those choices.
I have the power to change because I am an expression of God. In deepest gratitude, I give thanks for the opportunities available to me in every moment.
For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence.—Galatians 5:13

The following photograph is evidence of Ed's 'funniest thing!' moment as shared during this week's episode. For several days he had been crossing paths with the same guy at the beach. Ed's head thought the guy was an intimidating looking "Australian surfer". After a blessing Ed discovered him to be a pleasant encouraging happy American surfer. One day just as Ed was leaving the beach, Funniest Thing! with Darrell and Ed fan, local friend, and regular guest, Noel Bax pulled into the lot. Believe it or not, Noel was there to meet with this fellow. Ironically, Noel introduced Ed to 'Patrick" as the guy who got Noel listening to Funniest Thing! with Darrell and Ed. When we first met Noel he had informed us that it was a friend who told him of our show, so, Patrick turned out to be the missing link! We love 'connecting the dots' because it reinforces the truth that the Universe is always conspiring on our behalf.
Joke of the Day
Seeing Adam looking sad, God asked, "What's wrong?"
"There's no one to talk to." said Adam.
God replied, "Well, I've got good news. I'm going to give you a companion and name it a woman. This woman will gather food for you, cook for you and wash your clothes. She will always agree with you and bear your children never asking you to get up in the middle of the night to take care of them. She will never nag you and always be the first to admit she is wrong when you disagree. She will never have a headache and will freely give you love and passion whenever you need it."
Adam was impressed and asked, "What would a woman like this cost?"
God replied, "An arm and a leg."
"That sounds like a lot" said Adam, "What can I get for a rib?" ...the rest is History
