Everything is better when we are willing to trust that Life is moving in a positive direction. Darrell and Ed have learned that no one is too dumb to accept this belief, but many are too smart. Rev. Ken Gray, from the Inglewood Center for Spiritual Living, settles in to discuss today's Daily Word®, "Autumn." Click here to download/listen.
The 3 Breaths
"If I'm not havin' fun fun, it's time to go dumb dumb."

When you trust the creative power of the universe, you know what real relaxation is.  You do not have to solve the problems of the world unless you are the head of a government.  You do not have to solve other peoples troubles unless you are a professional counselor.  You do have to solve your own problems, and this you do without fuss and anxiety.  You make right decisions and let the subconscious mind do the work.  Your attitude is, "I am resolved what to do" (Luke 16:4).  Therefore, tensions regarding decisions cannot arise in your mind, emotions and body.
To trust in Life reduces the pressures of every day living. It makes you feel that the whole world is supporting you at all times.  This is exactly what the world is doing. Something great, wonderful, and true is backing up each of us.  –Raymond Charles Barker, The Power of Decision

You decide to give and receive love. You know you can do this and make intelligent plans to do it.  You are no longer fighting the human race. You have taken your place in it as a loving, kind and generous person. You attract to yourself people and situations which are the right ones for you... Love in you find love in them. Love in them finds love in you. The infinite is loving by means of you, and you give It full freedom of action.
-Raymond Charles Barker, The Power of Decision (From the Chapter: Decisions, Decisions, Decisions)
Self-reflection is one of the most productive things you can do with your creative imagination… When I was the director of the Biofeedback Institute, I demonstrated to some of the top executives of major corporations that by slowing down they'd be able to tap into deeper levels of their subconscious and come up with more valuable ideas. One publishing executive started taking Wednesdays off to relax and meditate. He reported back to me that he had gotten much more work accomplished in the remaining four days then he had ever gotten done in five!  –Jerry Gillies, award-winning NBC broadcaster and author of the million-selling book, MoneyLove.
Keep your prayers as simple as possible – simple in manner, and simple and thought. The secret of success with prayer is that it is simple, direct, and spontaneous. As soon as a prayer becomes complicated, literary, or high flown, it has becoming an intellectual exercise and no longer has spiritual power.
In our metaphysical studies we should try to be equally simple and definite . We should make a point of expressing what we believe and understand in the simplest and plainest terms, both for our own sake and the sake of anyone we may be enlightening.
If your ideas about religion are expressed in a vague and involved style, if you use a lot of unusual or ambiguous words, it is a sure sign that you do not understand what you were talking about, and are trying to disguise the fact from yourself. This device is a well-known trick of the subconscious to make us fool ourselves, and we should be on our guard against it.
Anything you really understand you can explain and reasonably simple language – providing that it is susceptible of explanation at all. And air of heavy profundity conveyed in mysterious and vague phraseology is the hallmark of insincerity or of a muddled mind.  –Pg 159, Make Your Life Worth While by Emmet Fox

When you reach for the thought that feels better, the Universe is now responding differently to you because of that effort. And so, the things that follow you get better and better, too. So it gets easier to reach for the thought that feels better, because you are on ever-increasing, improving platforms that feel better.  –Abraham
At about the same time, the disciples came to Jesus asking, "Who gets the highest rank in God's kingdom?"  For an answer Jesus called over a child, whom he stood in the middle of the room, and said, "I'm telling you, once and for all, that unless you return to square one and start over like children, you're not even going to get a look at the kingdom, let alone get in.  Whoever becomes simple and elemental again, like this child, will rank high in God's kingdom.  –Matthew 18:1–4

Autumn
I am in a constant state of rejuvenation.

I am in awe of nature’s consistency. Every autumn, the earth begins its cycle of release, rest, and replenishment. Winter is a time for rest. Then comes the rebirth of spring. By summer, flowers are in full bloom.
I take cues from nature to improve how I nurture my body. My day includes periods of work, play, and relaxation. I prepare for sleep by releasing the events of the day. I awaken ready for the new day.
The trees undergo a major transformation every year with what appears to be little effort. In a similar way, I accept the cycles of my life. I honor the Divine working through me. I am in a constant state of rejuvenation.
And God said, “Let there by lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years.”– Genesis 1:14

From Justine Cheah, Kuala, Lumpur, Malaysia
Dear Darrell and Ed,
Hi, my name is Justine Cheah and I was in a very bad mental state about a year ago. I remembered the sentence "Let go and let God" from a book I've read in the 90s. I googled the sentence and was led to Unity website on the subject. After reading the excerpts about "Let go and let God" I immediately felt better.

I have been to churches before but it never ever felt right because I could not understand the need to bring other faiths down. It was something like - If it's not Christian it's the devil!. All fear base. I stopped going to church and I was malnourished spiritually until that day.

Long story short, I discovered Unity and you guys that day and I KNEW I have finally come home. I prayed to God to accelerate my learning of the "I AM". Through you guys I have learn quickly because you made easy to understand what it is all about. Plus who doesn't love to laugh. I have yet to meet a Unity follower in Kuala Lumpur but for now I feel the connection through you guys!

I am better than I have ever been in my life.
Thank you and I want you guys to know you have changed lives in countries you've not been to but you are certainly heard!

From Donna and David McClure, Seattle, WA
Hey Darrell and Ed,

Joke of the Day
A man walked into an office building, then entered a Dentist's office and said, "Excuse me, can you help me. I keep thinking I'm a Moth." "You think you're a moth?" said the Dentist, "you don't need me, you need to see a psychiatrist. There's one two doors down the hallway." "I know", said the man." "Then why did you come into my office?" asked the Dentist. The man replied, "The light was on."

The 3 Breaths
"Love is the tonic, for a mental colonic"
Jesus said that he had come that we might have life and that we might "have it more abundantly."  The Bible often uses the word life, and always with the implication that is the greatest of all blessings.
Now what is this life of which the Bible speaks? You experience life when you feel yourself to be free and useful and joyous, and unconscious of either fear or doubt.
So when the Bible promises us long life, it promises us a long period of joy and freedom. When it promises eternal life, it promises the enjoyment of these things forever, on the condition that we keep the great law-by seeking more knowledge of God, and putting him first in our lives.  –From Around The Year With Emmet Fox, 9/14

Just stay in an attitude of faith; no matter what comes against you, just keep declaring the favor of God. Then before long, just like it did for the Saints of old, that favors going to show up and begin to turn your situation around.  –Growing In God's Favor, Joel Osteen, pg 35.

No power is sitting in judgment of any person. In the older systems of thought, we eased our guilt load by believing that God would punish us later for our errors. Now we see that this is not so.  All guilt is self-guilt.  –The Power of Decision, Raymond Charles Barker

When a person drowns himself in negative thinking he is committing an unspeakable crime against himself.  –-Maxwell Maltz

Some of us have said, "If I expect the worst, I won't be disappointed. If I think the worst about myself, no one else can cut me down."  It is like taking a driving trip and looking only for trash and garbage in the ditches, ignoring the beauty beyond. Indeed, what we see may be real, but is very limited piece of the picture.
When we have relied on negative thinking, it feels risky to give it up. We cannot do it in one day. You can begin by imagining ourselves with a more open attitude toward ourselves in the world. Then we can try it out as an experiment in little ways, with no commitment. Finally we reach the point where we can take a risk and entrust our higher power with the outcome.

Today, I will experiment with hopeful and positive thoughts about what happens.  –Touchstones Daily Meditations for Men, 9/14

Jesus said to another, "Follow me." He said, "Certainly, but first excuse me for a couple of days, please. I have to make arrangements for my father's funeral."  Jesus refused. "First things first. Your business is life, not death. And life is urgent: Announce God's kingdom!"  Then another said, "I'm ready to follow you, Master, but first excuse me while I get things straightened out at home."   Jesus said, "No procrastination. No backward looks. You can't put God's kingdom off till tomorrow. Seize the day."  –Luke 9:59-62
The wealth of the Universe is behind you when you have the right spirit, when you see yourself in the right context, when you project the right image.  Not by rejecting what you are, but by celebrating your true “I AM-age.”
Within you right now is the possibility of success and achievement.  You can bank on it.  –Eric Butterworth, Spiritual Economics, Pg. 60
We want to speak about freedom: This is a Vibrational Universe. The only Source that flows is the Source of Well-Being.  We are all free to allow that Well-Being to flow to us and through us or we can pinch it off. It is our call — every time...  –Abraham

Healing
The light of Truth illumines my mind and body. I am whole and well.
Like beautiful stained glass illumined by sunshine, I am aglow with the light of God. I gratefully claim my innate wholeness.

I may embrace a health regimen based on science. Yet I can do more than eat well, exercise, and hope for the best. Wellness includes attention to my body, mind, and spirit. Today I take a stand for my God-given health.
When I notice any anxiety, worry, or fear creep into my mind, I shift my thinking to the healing power of God. With gratitude, I affirm: The light of Truth illumines my mind and body. I am whole and well.
Nothing can take away my wholeness. I see it, feel it, and know it to be so. I am a radiant, healthy expression of God.

He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.”–Luke 8:48

Don't Inter-Fear With Your Dreams

Don't let the enthusiasm you have for your dream throw you into a panic about how you're going to make it happen. The enthusiasm you feel is God's reassurance that you've caught a glimpse of His will for you. Joyful expectancy brings us closer to our dreams than fearfully striving to bring them about. The 3 Breaths
"When my heart is in my dreams, no request is too extreme."
You must rid yourself for all time of the notion that something stands in the way of the accomplishment of what you would do. Nothing stands in the way of your goal but what you yourself place there. When you once discover that you are really a free being, you will readily understand.
It is not so difficult to possess what you wish for as you think it is. You magnify seeming obstacles. You wear yourself and your energy out by the needless struggle you make. You work backwards. Your desire is now actually in the line of least resistance, while you act as though it were the way of greatest difficulty.  –Carrie Moss Hawley, My Soul And I

Thought is the only reality; conditions are but the outward manifestations; as the thought changes, all outward or material conditions must change in order to be in harmony with their creator, which is thought.  –Charles F. Haanel, The Master Key System, 1916

Confidence is worship, you worship whatever you trust. Are you trusting more in fear or in God? What are you worshiping? That is the test.  –Around The Year With Emmet Fox, September 9

When your heart is in your dreams, no request is too extreme.  –Jiminy Cricket

A consciousness of God’s presence as One who loves you makes all life different.  The consciousness of God’s love promotes the opening of your whole being to God.  It brings wonderful relief from the cares and worries of our daily lives.  Relief brings peace and peace brings contentment.  Try to walk in God’s love.  You will have that peace which passes all understanding and a contentment that no one can take from you.  Feel sure of God’s unfailing love and care for you and for all His children.  There is freedom and serenity in those who walk in God’s love, held safe in His loving care.

Prayer for the Day:
I pray that I may walk in God’s love.  I pray that, as I go, I may feel the spring of God’s power in my steps and the joy of His love in my heart.  –Twenty-Four Hours A Day, Hazeldon, September 9

Grace
I open my heart to the grace of God.
I love to see flowers awaken to a new day. As the sunlight touches them, they respond by opening their petals in a beautiful display of color. In the same way, I open my heart to the grace of God. The activity of grace in me is as constant as the sun rising and falling. Grace is always present.
My heart’s opening takes no personal effort when I surrender to the light within me. Grace comes naturally. I feel warmth, acceptance, and love. With each new moment, I surrender my old ways and embrace more of this divine activity. I let grace bring about perfect outcomes and let go into a deep feeling of trust and peace. Whatever efforts I make in life, grace adds more good than I could ever imagine.

Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.—Hebrews 4:16

Joke of the Day
A priest and a taxi driver both died and went to heaven. St. Peter was at the Pearly gates waiting for them.

'Come with me', said St. Peter to the taxi driver.

The taxi driver did as he was told and followed St. Peter to a mansion. It had anything you could imagine from a bowling alley to an olympic size pool.

'Wow, thank you', said the taxi driver.

Next, St. Peter led the priest to a rugged old shack with a bunk bed and a little old television set.

'Wait, I think you are a little mixed up', said the priest. 'Shouldn't I be the one who gets the mansion? After all I was a priest, went to church every day, and preached God's word.'

'Yes, that's true. But during your sermons people slept. When the taxi driver drove, everyone prayed.'

The 3 Breaths
"There's no need for stress'in, we're just learning our lesson."
Let us see, then, where God's law of adjustment operates. God has no need of being adjusted. The only place where there is any demand for adjustment is in human consciousness; but unless human consciousness appeals to the divine law, unless it is willing and ready to lay down its own sense of human will and stop human planning, put aside human pride, ambition, and vanity, there is no room for the law of adjustment to operate.
When we in our helplessness reach the point where we see we are unable of ourselves to do anything, and then call upon God to aid us; when we are ready to show our willingness to abandon our own plans, our own opinions, our own sense of what ought to be done under the circumstances, and have no fear as to the consequences-then God's law will take possession of and govern the whole situation. We cannot expect, however, that this law will operate in our behalf if we indulge any preconceived ideas as to how it should do its work. We must completely abandon our own view of things and say, "Not my will, but thine, be done."5 If this step is taken with confidence and a full trust that God is capable of taking care of every circumstance, then no power on earth can prevent the natural, rightful, and legitimate adjustment of all discordant conditions.  –Adam H. Dickey, God's Law of Adjustment.

Consent is not the fruit of a strained effort, but a quiet yielding of the entire being.  Every part and particle is released from tension, from direction of the conscious mind, the better to be used by the great ocean of directive Intelligence.  –Newton Dillaway, Consent, Pg. 36.
We saw we needn't always be bludgeoned and beaten into humility. It could come quite as much from our voluntary reaching for it as it could from unremitting suffering.  –From Twelve Steps And Twelve Traditions, Alcoholics Anonymous.
I trust the process of life to bring me to my highest good.  –Louise Hay, You Can Heal Your Life.
As time passes, you will realize it more and more, that you will not be any nearer to Him than you are now. God will never love you more than He does now.
You are progressing, no matter how much or how little you know of Truth. "Seek, and ye shall find." The very fact that you are reading these words is evidence that you are seeking. Whether you have been seeking for a year, or for an hour, you are better now than you were before. Your life has more of blessing, less of lack; more of health, less of ailing; more of harmony, less of unhappiness. –Emmet Fox

Let go of yourself in the waters of divine strength will flood your soul and body. Be not so anxious about immediate results. You fret the finer forces and impede their way. Trust more in God and less in self. Swing off! Swing off! Let the divine have complete control if you would receive the world's greatest gifts, and heavens choices secrets.  –Carrie Moss Hawley, My Soul and I.

Lessons
I am grateful for the lessons in my life.
As children head back to school, I reflect on how much I am still learning. I look for lessons in my actions, reactions, and feelings. I turn within on challenging days. I listen to my inner wisdom and learn how I may handle a situation better next time. I give thanks for everything I learn—from finding a shortcut saving me time to discerning when to make my next big move.
Every encounter is a chance to learn. I see with eyes of curiosity, wondering what insight I may gain from each interaction. I release judgment and replace it with acceptance and gratitude. When I find patterns I want to change or reinforce, I open myself to Spirit’s guidance. God shows me the next right action. Lifelong learning leaves me fulfilled and at peace.

A scoffer seeks wisdom in vain, but knowledge is easy for one who understands.—Proverbs 14:6

This week's mail came in the form of fan Christina Robohm's, from Oakland, CA, response to Darrell and Ed's Facebook post on the Funniest Thing with Darrell and Ed Facebook fan page.

Darrell and Ed posted:
"My supply is endless, inexhaustible and immediate and comes to me under grace in perfect ways."
Test drive this affirmation by Florence Scovel Shinn and enjoy a thrilling weekend of abundance.”

From Christina Robohm:
I'm working this weekend so thank you! Something I've noticed is that I hold back my offerings because I don't want to bother others, assuming that I can affect their whole day and life if I offer something they don't want. Phew, thank goodness I release them and know that all who I encounter are grounded, empowered and won't take anything personally.

Joke of the Day
Did you hear about Jeff Comfort?

What do you mean?

He went to that new ShaktaMonkey Yoga Class with Guru Yogi Wanda.  All his friends told him how spiritual it was, and how it would bring him closer to God.

That sounds good.

Well, when he showed up, everyone was wearing exotic ponchos and yoga pants, and he had on cargo shorts and an ill-fitting t-shirt.  After several complaints, the guru took him aside and told him to go home, pray, and talk to God about how to dress for next week’s class.

Although Comfort didn’t find the class very spiritual, there were a lot of hot women in attendance, so he went home and meditated and talked to God. (like a good Chief Engineer.)

Then what happened?

Well, he returned to class the next week wearing the same cargo shorts and ill-fitting t-shirt that he wore the week before.  As you can imagine, Guru Yogi Wanda was visibly upset and took him aside.  She asked Comfort why he didn’t talk to God about how to appropriately dress for this sacred time in the sanctuary.

Comfort smiled and told her that he had spoken with God.

Guru Yogi Wanda, now angry and confused, yelled “What did God say?!”

Comfort said, “God told me he had never been to this sanctuary, or this class, so he had no idea what I should wear.”
